ThinkPad is a brand of laptops made by IBM and later Lenovo, focused on business use cases.
They're one of the oldest laptop brands and are well known for how well built they are, their reliability and durabilty. Most models have a military grade certificate for durability.
One really cool example is that ThinkPads are the only laptops that are certified for use on the ISS.
Various older models continue to be popular among computer enthusiasts due to their upgradabilty, specially among Linux users, as they usually have good support from the community.
They also become really cheap on the used market, as companies buys them in batches, selling them to resellers after a period of just 3 to 4 years.
I have acquired various models during the last years and here I want to share some of them, and what use cases each one of them had. Drink a shot of mate tea everytime you read the word "college"
I bought this one for my brother when he was getting into college.
He`s used it over the entire course, so it really fulfilled it's purpose.
This was the first laptop I bought for myself.
I always wanted a cool laptop, and couldn`t afford a brand new one, so eventually settled on this.
I called this one "the road warrior" (really creative)
I used it for some periods of college and later gifted it to my sister-in-law, also for college.
This was the second laptop I bought for myself.
this one had almost everything I wanted on a laptop.
Also was much cheaper than brand new models on the market with way better features.
Also used for some periods of college and later gifted it to my father-in-law, which main usage is teaching in college.
